Bruce Springsteen‘s 29-year-old daughter Jessica Springsteen has been named to the U.S. Olympic equestrian jumping team. Jessica, one of the premier horse jumpers in the country, will make the trip to Tokyo with her horse, Don Juan van de Donkhoeve.
She celebrated the good news in an Instagram post on Tuesday morning (July 6). “Been dreaming of this since I can remember! Endless gratitude for my team, friends and family for helping me make this a reality,” she wrote. “We are Tokyo bound!! Honored to be a part of this team with @laurakraut @teamkpf and @mclainward.official. There’s no horse in the world I’d rather be on this journey with, thank you Don! You’re my horse of a lifetime Let’s go USA!”
Springsteen — the only daughter of the rocker and E Street Band member and solo singer Patti Scialfa — will make her Olympic debut on the four-person team, according to a statement from the U.S. Olympic Committee. She will compete alongside two-time gold medalist and five-time Olympian McLain Ward, along with Kent Farrington and Laura Kraut.
Springsteen, who was an alternate rider for the 2012 U.S. Olympic team in London and failed to make the cut in 2016, is ranked 27th in the world and No. 3 in the U.S. She will be headed overseas just as her dad has kicked off his return to Broadway for the just launched return of his Springsteen on Broadway one-man show and signed on to perform at New York’s upcoming Central Park Homecoming Concert alongside Paul Simon and Jennifer Hudson.
