Even the developers of Escape from Tarkov aren’t immune to the occasional server crash.
During the recent TarkovTV New Year’s special, Battlestate Games lead Nikita Buyanov detailed the studio’s roadmap for the first quarter of 2026, highlighting several major technical milestones:
- Deeper integration features for the Steam platform.
- A complete overhaul of the reconnection logic, with a goal of getting players back into the action within 10–15 seconds of a crash.
- Optimization of internal systems to accelerate loading and unloading times. The developers envision a seamless experience: “Press the button and you’re instantly in the raid.”
- Significant reductions in memory consumption.
- Substantial performance enhancements, particularly for the resource-heavy Streets of Tarkov map.
- A comprehensive revamp of the game’s vegetation and foliage systems.
The broadcast took an ironic turn when the EFT live servers collapsed mid-stream, forcing the team to take an emergency break to address the outage. While Buyanov jokingly dismissed the crash as a “planned video effect,” many players confirmed that they were experiencing genuine connectivity issues at the same moment.
