After more than 15 years, the long-awaited Skate — released simply as “Skate” by Full Circle and EA — has entered Early Access. Ironically, while skateboarding is the game’s focus, it appears that skating isn’t always the fastest method of getting around San Vansterdam.
The new Skate has arrived after a long wait, and although it launched with “Mixed” reviews on Steam, inventive players are already experimenting across its online multiplayer world — and many aren’t using boards. The game includes on-foot parkour mechanics, but those moves aren’t intended to replace skating; this is, at heart, Skate.
The animation is simple but absurdly effective: the character runs, jumps and flips forward while holding the thumbstick to chain somersaults, reaching destinations in seconds without ever mounting a skateboard. Comments beneath the clip are nearly as entertaining as the footage itself — one viewer even asked, “How did you already break the game?”

Another player posted a similar clip demonstrating the same rapid movement, combining mid-air dives and rolls while darting across the map. “Man, you don’t even know,” reads their caption. Fans have playfully compared the technique to classic platformer exploits — as one commenter put it, this is “Super Mario 64 tech.” Maybe it’s less Skate 4 and more unofficially “Parkour.”
