Hideo Kojima Praises Avatar: Fire and Ash and Thanks James Cameron

The legendary game designer has once again turned his analytical gaze toward a major new cinematic release.

Hideo Kojima recently took to social media to share his thoughts on *Avatar: Fire and Ash* after a recent viewing. In a post on X, the visionary designer praised James Cameron’s latest work for its “absolute refusal to compromise” in constructing a world down to its most infinitesimal details, ultimately hailing the film as “magnificent.”

According to Kojima, the experience served as a powerful reminder of the fundamental philosophy behind true craftsmanship. He noted that while people frequently claim “God is in the details, it is a rare occurrence to actually see that concept manifest so vividly within the creative process itself.”

The designer reflected on his own four-decade journey of merging the entertainment industry and fine art with the evolution of digital tech, identifying himself as a creator of the “digital realm.” He also pointed out that the development of *Death Stranding* utilized technological foundations originally pioneered for the first *Avatar* film.

Kojima also addressed the persistent debate surrounding digital versus analog cinema. He observed that modern audiences often put films shot without CGI on a pedestal while devaluing digital works under the pretense that “anyone can make digital cinema.” In Kojima’s view, this is a significant misconception.

“Digital creations are just as much a product of human hands. Countless actors, artists, and engineers pour their intent and soul into them, infusing the work with life. This film served as a reminder of the ‘pride’ and ‘courage’ needed to stride into the future. It has renewed my confidence and inspired me to continue seeking the unknown through digital technology. Thank you, James Cameron.”
