Vincke specifically highlighted the game’s various finales, noting that Larian designed them to act as fertile ground for future storytelling—whether in games or adaptations.
Crazy that a story that started out in a small hotel conference room eventually evolved into a narrative inspiring enough for it to become a HBO series. We worked incredibly hard on making Baldur’s Gate 3 worthy of its legacy. Its characters and narratives are the result… https://t.co/eOuA5JEvn4February 6, 2026
“The endings of BG3 were specifically crafted to serve as narrative soil for new adventures,” Vincke remarked. “There are so many paths they could explore.” Interestingly, even the Larian lead is currently in the dark regarding which specific canon or direction the show will adopt.
However, he expressed immense curiosity to see which choices Craig Mazin—the acclaimed director behind The Last of Us who is now helming the Baldur’s Gate 3 adaptation—will ultimately select.
It appears that Vincke and the core Larian team will remain involved in the creative process. Vincke noted that Mazin has already reached out to “have a chat,” providing an opportunity for the developers to offer their insights and perspective on the world they built.
He concluded his thoughts with a hopeful nod to Larian’s future endeavors, specifically the upcoming Divinity title—one of two RPG projects currently in development alongside the mysterious “Project Excalibur.”
“I’m crossing my fingers that the story we’re currently cooking up for Divinity eventually reaches these same heights,” Vincke wrote. “We’re certainly putting in the hours to make it happen.” For a game that has already captivated players for thousands of hours, the future of the franchise looks brighter than ever.
Larian’s publishing chief jokingly threatened to “crash out” over the TV news before offering a more measured take: “I don’t think anyone can outdo our writers.”
