Kamasi Washington has dropped a brand new video for his Heaven and Earth observe “Hub-Tones.” The clip was directed by Jenn Nkiru, the London-based director who labored on Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s “APESHIT” video.
“‘As an African-American, a lot of us don’t know the country of our origin, that’s why most of us take on the ideology of Pan-Africanism,” Washington stated in an announcement. “I was trying to connect to my ancestors by connecting African rhythms with a Freddie Hubbard tune which gave me that connection in a different way.” For the video, Nkiru was impressed by her father or mother’s Ikwerre tribe, artist Larry Achiampong, Nina Simone, Anita Hill’s courthouse hearings, and extra. In June, Kamasi Washington shared the video for “Street Fighter Mas.” He additionally shared a companion EP to Heaven and Earth known as The Choice.
