Another dramatic Ubisoft release: Might & Magic Fates has extremely few players, even for free

Ubisoft’s latest venture has suffered a disappointing launch. As the publisher continues to experiment with its legacy IPs—amidst the ongoing revival of Rayman—the company has released a project that has completely failed to capture an audience.

The Might & Magic series was once a cornerstone of Ubisoft’s success on PC. Since the acquisition of the rights roughly two decades ago, the brand has historically delivered solid results. While the franchise’s prominence has faded in recent years, the appetite for the universe clearly remains high, as evidenced by the Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era demo, which attracted over 24,000 concurrent players.

In sharp contrast, Might & Magic Fates – Heroes TCG, which debuted on February 16, failed to break the 1,000-player mark at its peak, despite being free-to-play. Community sentiment suggests that fans were expecting a different direction, receiving instead a lackluster card game bogged down by “pay-to-win” mechanics and a design that feels more suited for mobile devices.

Peak Concurrent Players:

  • Might & Magic Fates – 993
  • Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Demo – 24,157

At the time of this writing, only 263 players are active in the game.
