Three Fields Entertainment, the studio founded by former Criterion Games veterans Fiona Sperry and Alex Ward, has launched a Patreon campaign seeking community funding to sustain its operations.
Last week, Sperry revealed via LinkedIn that the entire staff had been issued redundancy notices.
The reality we are navigating is incredibly harsh. As an independent studio, we won’t see any immediate revenue from game sales, having self-funded the majority of this year’s operations as well as all post-release content.
Sperry further noted that without publisher support, the studio cannot continue to exist in its current form:
Coming to this conclusion was incredibly difficult.
A statement on the developer’s Patreon page reads:
We simply cannot proceed without your support. Patreon provides us with the resources to ship updates more frequently, explore innovative ideas, and create richer content. Moreover, it allows for a much more direct dialogue with our community.
Sperry also confirmed that the next update, featuring cross-platform play, is on track to release before Christmas.
