According to simscommunity.info, EA and Maxis are reportedly planning to release a reworked version of The Sims 4.
Insiders say Maxis is developing a standalone version of the base game that will eventually replace the current The Sims 4. This isn’t The Sims 5, but more of a “The Sims 4 HD” — a remaster built on Project Rene technology. Rather than issuing a single massive update to the existing title, the studio appears to be overhauling graphics and lighting and updating parts of the engine.
Insiders also note:
- The new release will launch with a more complete feature set out of the gate;
- The Seasons expansion’s seasonal mechanics and the memories/milestone systems from Growing Together will be integrated into the base game;
- Simulation beyond the lot will be strengthened — the world is expected to feel much more alive;
- The project is connected to Project Rene, a modular platform intended for current and future entries in the series;
- A recent EA survey asked players about save-file compatibility with the “new version”;
- The remaster is said to introduce seamless travel across neighborhoods without loading screens between lots, a long-requested feature since E3 2014.
For now these are only rumors and leaks, but the concept of a The Sims 4 Remastered as a modern, fully featured base game seems plausible.
