The series’ creators say a decade of work has taught them everything they need, and they will strive to bring the story to a as flawless a close as possible.
Matt and Ross Duffer, the minds behind Stranger Things, believe the show’s final season will be the strongest entry in the franchise. In an interview with GamesRadar+ they said that years of experience have given them valuable lessons they intend to apply, aiming to properly conclude the tale of Hawkins and the group of teens battling the darkness of the Upside Down.
“We’re always learning — what worked and what didn’t — and we try to use those lessons on the next season. I hope we’ve absorbed everything we can and that Season Five will be perfect, leaving fans with nothing to criticize. Although, realistically, I’d say the odds of that are about 0.5%,”
The writers concede they’ve come to terms with past missteps and are determined to deliver a definitive ending without caveats. The Duffers emphasize that all storylines must be resolved and no character arcs left open, because the narrative concludes in season five. That’s important to them — they have no plans for spin-offs or follow-up projects that would continue the timeline after the finale.
Still, viewers who aren’t ready to part with the characters for good should note the previously announced animated series Stranger Things: Stories from 1985, which is set to take place between the third and fourth seasons of the original show.
Season Five of Stranger Things will be released in three parts on Netflix: the first arrives on November 26, 2025, the second on December 25, 2025, and the finale will premiere on December 31, 2025.
