PUBG: Blindspot Tactical Shooter Spinoff

The South Korean publishing giant Krafton, Inc. has officially launched PUBG: Blindspot, a new free-to-play 5v5 tactical shooter, into Steam Early Access. Developed by the veterans at PUBG Studios, the title pivots from the sprawling scale of battle royales to concentrate on claustrophobic, high-stakes indoor skirmishes. The experience blends intense close-quarters combat with a strategic top-down perspective, requiring precise team coordination.

This release follows Krafton’s high-profile announcement last October regarding its transition into an “AI-first” enterprise. In a recent press statement, the publisher emphasized that the Early Access phase serves as a collaborative “open development” period. The team intends to work closely with the community to calibrate gameplay mechanics, refine weapon balance, and expand the roster of content leading up to the official 1.0 debut.

Representing the first major genre-bending spinoff of the franchise that defined the modern battle royale, Blindspot is set several decades after the events of the original game. Taesok Jang, the head of the PUBG IP, noted that this launch is a cornerstone for the brand’s future, as they look to export the universe into various new genres and platforms.

While the game is available for download on Steam right now—and playable via Nvidia GeForce Now—the real test begins next week. Competitive Season 1 is scheduled to kick off on February 12, introducing a ranked ladder for those seeking a more rigorous challenge.

Meet the Characters

Veterans of the previous beta tests will find fresh content in this Early Access build. Specifically, the roster has been bolstered by a new defensive specialist designed for area denial, utilizing Molotov cocktails to dictate the flow of combat and control the arena’s choke points.
