Developers have kicked off the virtual fishing season.
Mojang has released the Friendly Fishing add-on for Minecraft Bedrock. It was created in partnership with Conservation International — a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting nature for the benefit of people.
The spotlight is on fishing — each species of fish displays its own behavior:
“You’ll need to master a small mini-game every time you try to catch a barracuda, flounder, or sea bass. These feisty fish have distinct behaviors and logic, so landing them will demand not only clever tactics but also patience — much like real-world angling. There are over 90 species in total, so let’s see how many you can reel in.”
Caught fish can be recorded in the “Encyclopedia,” where their weight, habitats and other data are tracked.
Trash will occasionally appear in the water: it can be used to craft unique items; as players gradually clean a body of water they’ll unlock additional fish species to catch.
