Modder shows gameplay of Risen sequel on Unreal Engine 5

An independent developer is currently crafting an ambitious RPG prototype.

A dedicated fan of Piranha Bytes’ Risen is bringing a fresh vision to life, leveraging the advanced capabilities of Unreal Engine 5.

The modder, known as Natsu, recently shared a comprehensive development diary for their project, titled The Old Kingdom. The update offers a deep dive into the technical architecture alongside an impressive gameplay demonstration.

The Old Kingdom will feature a variety of playable classes, each with distinct world-interaction mechanics. For example, a mage can navigate terrain through levitation, while a guard might use telekinesis to manipulate distant levers. Meanwhile, standard combatants will have to rely on traditional pathfinding and physical navigation.

Additionally, the creator showcased a functional dialogue system and the updated visual design of the protagonist, who was meticulously modeled using MetaHuman technology.

Natsu is currently looking for fellow enthusiasts and developers interested in collaborating to help bring this project to fruition.
