After many days of effort, Banclam pauses and observes, “A lot in this world has changed over the last couple hundred Minecraft days — and it shows no sign of slowing.” At one point he even channels the Stoic Marcus Aurelius, invoking the image of something unyielding that the storm finally leaves behind.

One viewer summed it up succinctly: “I’ve never seen a Minecraft challenge this brutal that led someone to quote Stoic philosophy,” a comment that earned more than a thousand likes.

“There will never be grass in this world,” Banclam intones, his voice flat as he surveys the barren expanse. He later constructs a bleak, hostile mob farm that is immediately overrun by more slime and skeletons.

“Only time will reveal whether this experiment was worthwhile,” he concludes, visibly unimpressed.

Minecraft was almost sold to Activision Blizzard for $1.5 billion before Microsoft acquired Mojang, former CEO Bobby Kotick says: “I almost bought it.”
