Master Slop: Generative AI will become a core pillar of development for new games in the Halo series

While activists continue to target the developers of Clair Obscur and Divinity for utilizing AI in placeholder assets, Halo Studios is doubling down on the technology.

Halo Studios is aggressively weaving generative artificial intelligence (AI) into the fabric of the Halo franchise’s future. Recent internal reports indicate that AI has transitioned from a mere utility to one of the primary “pillars” of the company’s development philosophy.

The studio is currently overseeing two major projects that have progressed into the advanced stages of production. Under a revamped leadership structure and a broader reorganization of the Xbox ecosystem, the team is shifting its focus toward automation and AI-assisted workflows to accelerate production cycles.

A key signal of this transition is the appointment of Angela Hession as the new Chief of Staff at Halo Studios. Hession brings a wealth of experience from her decade-long tenure at Microsoft, where she previously led the gaming safety and trust division. Crucially, she is the founder of Hession Consulting AI, a firm dedicated to helping corporations integrate AI strategies into gaming and commercial sectors. Her deep-seated expertise in artificial intelligence was reportedly a major catalyst for her selection.

Further evidence of the studio’s AI-centric pivot can be found in its management training. Several high-level executives have recently secured certifications in generative language models and AI-driven project management. Additionally, multiple directors and staff members are already employing AI automation to enhance and streamline their daily operational tasks.
