Lizzo Playfully “Promotes” Her New Album Using a Chris Brown Clip

Lizzo has jokingly secured an endorsement for her upcoming album, Bitch—though it is safe to say Chris Brown probably wasn’t in on the joke.
On Wednesday, May 13, the Yitty founder shared a creative edit of a recent video featuring the R&B singer. In his original Instagram Story, a visibly frustrated Brown told his followers, “If you not my fan, I don’t want you to listen to my s–t. Go listen to motherf–king Zara Larsson or somebody.”
Lizzo’s reimagined version cuts the clip right after Brown’s outburst, replacing his face with her own using a filter that places her eyes and mouth onto his. With her voice humorously pitched down, she declares, “Pre-order Lizzo’s album Bitch coming out June 5 or something.”
“I CANT BELIEVE CHRIS BROWN SAID THIS?????” she quipped in the caption, clearly embracing the absurdity of the remix.
Lizzo has been vocal about her admiration for the “Run It!” singer in the past. In 2021, she drew significant backlash after approaching Brown backstage at the Millennium Tour, where she famously referred to him as her “favorite person in the whole f–king world.”
Brown’s reputation remains highly controversial due to his history of documented physical violence, most notably his 2009 assault of Rihanna. Additionally, he is currently facing legal proceedings; in May 2025, he was arrested in Manchester on charges related to an alleged nightclub incident in London. He has pleaded not guilty, and a trial is scheduled for October 26, 2026.
The jab at Zara Larsson in Brown’s recent video appeared to be a direct response to the Swedish pop star’s February interview with Cosmopolitan, where she explicitly named Brown as one of the “abusers” she has blocked on Spotify. The reception to Brown’s new album, released May 8, has been heavily impacted by these ongoing public controversies, with critics like Pitchfork describing the music as “soulless” and questioning his legacy.
Despite the criticism, Brown remains defiant. In his original video, he insisted, “I don’t give a f–k what these n—as is talkin’ about. I know exactly who my fans is and I know exactly who hearing this album.”
