Two years later, serendipity intervened. A Reddit user known as Bobbyfan85 read the Lost Media Wiki entry and remembered having downloaded the cutscene long ago. After digging through old hard drives, they discovered the file and confirmed a download date of October 16, 2001. They described the find on the r/LostMedia subreddit. r/LostMedia.
Bobbyfan85 posted the clip to Instagram, and an unwatermarked copy has since been preserved on the Internet Archive, ensuring the scene is now publicly accessible. Instagram · Internet Archive.
Questions remain. Why did the cutscene not appear in early circulating builds? If it was removed as part of post‑9/11 edits, why was it still available for download from Activision’s site weeks later? Was the sequence omitted for unrelated creative or legal reasons? Those mysteries may yet be clarified, but for now the recovered clip lets us see the much‑discussed footage for ourselves.
