THIS CAT LITERALLY SAVED OVERWATCH 😂 pic.twitter.com/0KC5ra76cZ
“Just look at her tiny paws,” he noted, mesmerized by the animation of the cat operating her machinery. It’s an undeniably charming touch that has fueled a wave of feline-fever on social media.
“I am officially a Jetpack Cat main for life,” declared one enthusiastic Redditor, claiming this is the most enjoyment they’ve found in the game since its 2016 debut. Another fan praised the character’s unique utility: “The mobility is incredible. Capturing enemies and tossing them off the map is pure chaos, plus she actually contributes solid damage and healing.”
This “capturing” ability refers to Fika’s force field, which allows her to pick up other characters. She can ferry teammates to safety or drag enemies into environmental hazards. Streamer Frogger recently demonstrated the power of this kit by flanking an entire team from a vertical angle they never saw coming. Given how oppressive these abilities currently feel, many players expect a balance patch in the near future.
However, this obsession has a downside. Jetpack Cat is currently being banned in competitive matches at an alarming rate, largely due to her sheer ubiquity. “Please stop banning the cat,” streamer Flats posted on X. “I just want some whimsy and fun back in my matches.”
Fika isn’t a brand-new concept; she was actually on the drawing board during the early development of the original Overwatch before being shelved as “too ridiculous.” Fortunately, the current development team realized that some ideas are too good to stay in the litter box—especially those involving a cat with a jetpack.
