Guerrilla has showcased two primary game modes so far: Machine Incursion and Cauldron Descent. Both will be accessible during an upcoming closed playtest, part of the PlayStation Beta Program for PS5 and PC, starting at the end of February. In Machine Incursion, hunters must hold back tides of mechanical foes and powerful bosses surging from subterranean gateways. Cauldron Descent, meanwhile, is a multi-phased challenge where shifting chambers force teams to adapt to brutal encounters and unlock hidden rewards through high-stakes exploration.
The game will feature a diverse cast of characters, each offering unique melee or long-range combat styles and specialized weaponry. Additionally, players can customize their experience through a roguelite-style perk system, allowing for specialized character builds tailored to specific team strategies.
Multiplayer focus aside, the game includes a complete narrative campaign that is officially canon. Guerrilla has emphasized that the storytelling will continue to evolve through post-launch updates.
“On a personal level, this is a bold and exhilarating step for our team,” Bak explained. “Multiplayer has always been a core part of Guerrilla’s identity. Bringing a cooperative hunting dynamic to the Horizon world is a vision we’ve nurtured for years. We are approaching this with massive ambition and care, and we can’t wait for players to see the scale of what we’ve built through the upcoming playtests.”
While the project is still in its early stages and a definitive release date remains unannounced, eager fans can already register for the PlayStation Beta Program to express their interest in the upcoming testing phase.
In related news, a separate Horizon MMORPG has been confirmed as a mobile-exclusive title, though it remains distinct from this new PC and console project.
