Highguard Website Offline; Game Operations to Continue

The situation surrounding Highguard continues to deteriorate. Following a turbulent launch and a devastating wave of redundancies at Wildlight Entertainment, the game’s official portal, playhighguard.com, has effectively vanished. Rather than a standard 404 error, the site—which once served as a hub for lore, character profiles, and development roadmaps—now displays a bleak “Site Unavailable” message, directing users to a support email address. Records indicate the site went dark between February 16 and 17.

While Wildlight Entertainment’s corporate website remains live, it has been significantly hollowed out. During the same window the Highguard site failed, Wildlight scrubbed its “About Us” and “Meet the Team” sections entirely. Furthermore, the “Join Us” page, which previously showcased numerous career opportunities, has been deactivated. The remaining digital footprint is limited to a landing page, a contact form, and a link to the now-defunct game site.

Requests for clarification regarding the technical outages and the game’s operational status have gone unanswered. Similarly, the studio has remained tight-lipped regarding allegations that the project’s primary financial engine was a confidential partnership with Chinese tech giant Tencent. A spokesperson for Wildlight’s PR firm declined to comment on the matter.

“The website needs to be migrated and streamlined, but it’s a low priority right now. The reputational damage is already done. Our focus must remain on pushing updates and improving the core experience.”

This candid admission came from a Highguard Discord moderator, WL_Coronach, in response to community anxiety. While the message confirms that a skeleton crew is still attempting to patch the game, it paints a grim picture of the studio’s current standing. Social media platforms, particularly Reddit and X, are filled with players anticipating a total shutdown.

The instability at the studio has already claimed several planned content updates. Cristina Laviña Ferez, a former character concept artist for Wildlight who previously worked on Apex Legends, recently took to ArtStation to share designs for a hero named Onyx. “I’ve received permission to show future content,” Ferez wrote in her post. “Sadly, Onyx may never actually debut in Highguard, but she deserves to be seen.”

Ferez, who was responsible for creating several of the game’s distinct character designs from the ground up while also managing the microtransaction pipeline, was among those terminated on February 11. This mass layoff occurred a mere two weeks after the game’s January 26 debut, leaving the future of Highguard‘s remaining roadmap in serious jeopardy.
