Exactly one year ago the debut date for GTA 6 was announced. During this time, the public anticipated a second trailer, but for now, we only have to debunk various fakes about the game.
One of these was a supposed new illustration, a photo of which began circulating online before the weekend. As usual, blurry and unclear — the first sign of a fake. The second — the art style differs from what the developers presented themselves. Yesterday, the artist of the fan art surfaced and shared it in high quality, along with a video of its creation. It turned out to be a really impressive image for a fan creation.
Another highlight of the week was the appearance on LinkedIn of a resume supposedly belonging to the principal engine programmer of GTA 6. Initially, it was stated that he was working on technical improvements, including procedural generation of objects and game worlds. Example: you visit the same place, and the items change their positions each time. This could have been a real innovation for the Grand Theft Auto series.
However, it seems to be just another fake. The issue isn’t even about the fact that there’s no mention of the technology described above on that page now. It’s already been debunked by internet detectives. While the absence of a person named Ryan Woods in the credits of GTA 5 / GTA Online could somehow be explained: he “joined” Rockstar Games in May 2020, by which time GTA V was already 6.5 years old, and he may not have been involved in the work on GTA Online simply because he was moved to GTA 6. The puzzle arises as to why he’s missing from the developer lists of the games mentioned in his portfolio. And this isn’t an isolated case — there are more than five such projects: Spider-Man (2018), Ratchet & Clank (2016), South Park: The Stick of Truth, among others. Verdict: spreading deliberately false information.
