Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail Creators Unveil Realistic Fantasy Game on Unreal Engine 5

HoYoverse is working on projects that extend beyond anime-style visuals.

HoYoverse (formerly miHoYo) has released the first teaser for a new project — a fantasy title built on Unreal Engine 5 showcasing realistic graphics. The short clip features riders disappearing into mist, flying dragons, and a colossal creature rising from the water. The level of visual detail is unlike what the studio has shown before — it’s clear they’re aiming to move past their usual anime-oriented aesthetic.

Job postings on the project’s official website reveal parts of the concept. Descriptions reference a “realistic fantasy world” and fast-paced combat. Additional details surfaced through a leak shared by insider Selee.

According to the leaked information, the game appears to be a multiplayer experience with a dynamic open world, PvP encounters, and cooperative features. The listing mentions large-scale boss battles, next-generation animation systems, and advanced world simulation, including upgraded NPC AI that accounts for terrain during combat.

Interestingly, one of the job adverts for the Unreal Engine 5 game client specifies that candidates must have “experience working on multiplatform projects, including PC, consoles and mobile devices.” That supports the expectation that the title will be multiplatform and will also launch on mobile — consistent with HoYoverse’s earlier releases.

Commenters on the Reddit post have already dubbed the project “Genshin Impact 2,” though many immediately qualify that label, pointing out the presence of PvP and, based on the trailer, a darker visual tone.
