“Chapter 3” is scheduled for release in early 2026.
Funcom has shared the first look at the next major expansion for Dune: Awakening—the most significant free content update since the game’s debut in June 2025. This massive overhaul is slated to arrive in the first quarter of 2026.
A major priority for the developers is the Deep Desert; it is being redesigned to fulfill its original design goals, offering distinct, dedicated environments for both PvP and PvE enthusiasts.
“During the development of ‘Chapter 3,’ we analyzed thousands of discussions, suggestions, and feedback logs from the Dune: Awakening community. One of the most frequent requests was for more tangible progression and meaningful player agency—especially in PvE—after reaching level 6. This update builds the framework for these features, expanding the endgame with higher stakes, collaborative goals, and fresh paths for character development.”
Key Features of the Expansion:
- Comprehensive Endgame Overhaul: A new specialization system, deepened faction progression, and a revitalized Landsraad system featuring repeatable missions and exclusive rewards for both solo and group play.
- 5–6 Hours of New Story Content: Featuring cinematic cutscenes, fully voiced dialogue, multi-phase boss encounters, and challenging new dungeons.
- Melee Combat Refinements: A total rework of the rapier to distinguish its identity from daggers and short swords, along with the introduction of an incendiary grenade launcher and dual-wielded blades.
Releasing alongside the free update is the paid DLC, “Raiders of the Broken Lands,” featuring a cosmetic collection inspired by the underworld of spice smugglers and illegal arms dealers. This pack includes 74 construction elements, 17 decorations, unique stillsuits, light and heavy armor variants, weapon skins, emotes, and the ability to dye items for custom base aesthetics. The DLC is included for Season Pass holders or can be purchased individually for $9.99.
