EverQuest: The Burning Lands is the 25th expansion for the venerable MMO, and it’s out tomorrow – just a few months ahead of the game’s 20 year anniversary in March. This time, it’s all about an elemental war as the peace between the jann breaks down. You’ll be heading to the Planes to find out what happened.
The principal conflict is between the djinn from the Plane of Air and the efreeti from the Plane of Fire, and those locations will serve as two of the settings for the six new expansion zones to launch with the update, along with the Plane of Smoke. Naturally, new zones mean an array of new raids, quests, and missions to undertake.
The Burning Lands also brings us a new luck stat that can offer bonuses in random rewards, including the amount of gold in your split, your critical damage, and your chances of success at trade-skill combines. As expected, you’ll get access to new spells, combat abilities, and alternate advancement options too. You can see more details on many of the new features in a developer stream below.
You can pick up the Standard Edition for $34.99 / £27.12 / €31.16, or head to the official site for details on the bonuses included with the pricier Collector’s and Premium versions. You can get a Mearatas Rock Garden for your home if you pre-order any edition, and your purchase will get you access to all previous expansions.
EverQuest served as direct inspiration for all the best MMOs on PC, and it’s still going strong after setting the standards back in 1999. Tomorrow’s expansion looks provide another to the game’s almost unbelievable longevity.
