Dispatch Developers Comment on a Sequel

It looks like Dispatch won’t remain a standalone project. AdHoc Studio’s debut proved so successful that the team is already thinking about a second season.

Dispatch recalled the episodic adventures of Telltale Games to many players, yet it was developed by former employees of that studio. After Telltale’s closure they formed their own studio and initially worked on The Wolf Among Us 2, which ultimately never released. In Dispatch they present the narrative of a superhero team that the player directs, and that design earned both critical acclaim and strong sales.

Co-founders Nick Herman and Pierre Shorett said on the Skill Up – Friends Per Second podcast that Dispatch has sold more than one million copies, with ratings on Steam and the PlayStation Store reaching 97% and 4.95 respectively. Thanks to that success, AdHoc Studio is not ruling out a second season.

However, fans should expect a wait. The developers admitted they were surprised by the reception and have not yet started work on a follow-up. The studio is currently concentrating on a new project set in the Exandria universe, being developed in partnership with Critical Role Productions. Although that game is still in early development, it will preserve the strong focus on player choices and consequences that defined Dispatch.
