Today, we’re highlighting the winners of the mapping competition and providing insight into their evaluations, as judged exclusively by our development team.

But first, we are thrilled to announce the complete rollout of our new Merchandise line!

The competition was fierce, particularly with two exceptional maps that excelled conceptually but slightly underwhelmed in visual presentation. We’ll begin our review from third place to first.

Third Place: Neon Tomb Remastered by Vegriv

Drawing from the original’s foundation, this map transforms the Neon ambiance from a modern club to a 1990s Vegas vibe.

The layout unfolds like a web, centered around a semicircular pool and bar, while extending into a complex maze of peril and intrigue on the upper and lower floors.

The main path leads to a vast, intricately designed, treacherous pool area. Many first-time testers found themselves surrounded by well-armed Hand members. Exploring alternate routes in the Tomb’s depths further reveals Vegriv’s dedication to maintaining the Neon spirit while completely revamping the map’s appearance.

An especially noteworthy hallway, which I won’t reveal to avoid spoilers, captivated many judges, especially our art team.

Second Place: Shattered Nerve by Delta and StenTheAwesome

The smallest submission, reminiscent of Sullivan’s Slope in scale and suspect number, yet packed with meticulous detailing.

Unique among custom maps, it begins with fellow officers actively engaging suspects, and allows for deploying team members from other spawn points, facilitating a strategic two-pronged attack on some of the game’s most dangerous criminals.

Approaching from the main start point introduces a first-time feature: using the Bearcat as a breach assist vehicle, tearing off a gate to allow D-Platoon to advance. The house poses dangers even before setting foot inside, with potential fire from upper windows and traps concealed among the garden decor.

Inside, more traps and a custom AI-scripted killbox with machine gun fire await. Explorative players can find ladders to flank and neutralize the gun-wielding suspect.

Approaching the secondary firing point reveals both “Left Behind” iconography and a poignant tribute to a fallen soldier. The main shooting position offers insight into the chaos requiring D-platoon’s response and overlooks Los Suenos’ stunning yet underappreciated landscape.

First Place: Homeland by Lumoize and MrEman

Revamping the old station earned major acclaim, elevating its design to new heights. Lumoize and MrEman transformed a former safe haven into a lethal maze.

Overflowing with rich detail that rewards careful scrutiny, Homeland excelled beyond “good” to clinch first place. Noteworthy features include perfectly aligned prayer mats, custom interactive Easter eggs, and training courses reflecting The Hand’s past actions.

Homeland ranks high among Ready or Not’s mapping elite, joining the ranks of Sanctum’s Deceit. We’ll keep our review concise to avoid adding another thousand words to this newsletter.

Lumoize and Mreman’s craftsmanship shone through in every meticulous detail.

We look forward to seeing what the community will contribute as we update the game to offer modders greater functionality and as they refine their creations.
