Classic RTS elements combined into a single project

There still haven’t been any new full-scale Command & Conquer entries, so RTS fans are turning to analogous titles. A recent release called Dying Breed clearly incorporates traits reminiscent of the C&C franchise.

Sarnayer describes the project as “a love letter to first-generation RTS games that laid the groundwork, a tribute to iconic sci‑fi films, and an homage to classic game soundtracks.”

Dying Breed unfolds in an alternate world where World War II “ends in 1951 with a nuclear holocaust,” and after forty years of peace a powerful new resource began surfacing from beneath the earth. Several factions will compete for power and control.

Early reviews of Dying Breed on Steam are “mostly positive.”
