After more than a year away from the stage, Canadian musician Cindy Lee has announced a concise North American tour for early November.
Cindy Lee is the alias of Patrick Flegel, who initially planned an extensive series of shows in April and May 2024 to celebrate the breakthrough album Diamond Jubilee.
Billed at the time as their “final U.S. tour,” the second half of those dates was quietly canceled due to undisclosed personal matters within the touring party.
Now, Lee is breaking the silence with four newly confirmed performances in Chicago, Toronto, Montreal and New York City.
Freak Heat Waves—who supported Lee in 2024—will open each concert, except in Toronto where Blue Light takes the stage first.
Flegel’s Cindy Lee project first captured attention in 2020 with What’s Tonight to Eternity?, and achieved wider acclaim with the enigmatic 2024 release Diamond Jubilee.
Released almost exclusively via a lone YouTube stream and an off-beat Geocities site, the two-hour, triple-LP record defied streaming conventions and nonetheless earned rave reviews and a shortlist spot for the 2024 Polaris Music Prize.
“The excitement surrounding Diamond Jubilee underscores not only its intrinsic artistry but also a collective yearning for authenticity over relentless self-promotion,” wrote Rosie Long Decter for Billboard Canada.
“In an era when artists struggle to rise above the digital din, Lee’s bold rejection of the streaming status quo—and the acclaim that followed—feels refreshingly defiant.”
