While Doctor Doom is undeniably the star of the show, the true draw of the upcoming Magic: The Gathering “Doom Prevails” Commander deck might be the collection of high-value staples tucked away behind its thematic villainy.

Wizards of the Coast recently unveiled the complete decklist via The Asian Avenger’s YouTube channel. This Grixis (blue-black-red) build leans heavily into a “Villain” typal theme, blending ruthless mechanics like forced discarding, connive-based card advantage, and lifepoint-draining abilities. Beyond the 32 brand-new Marvel legendary creatures, the deck serves as a treasure trove of reprints, boasting a combined secondary market value of roughly $100 or more.

The centerpiece is a reprint of Black Market Connections, currently valued around $20. Originally debuted in the 2022 Battle for Baldur’s Gate “Party Time” precon, this potent enchantment offers incredible utility. For a three-mana investment, it allows you to burn life to generate treasure tokens, draw extra cards, or summon 3/2 changeling tokens. If you have the health to spare, you can trigger all three effects every turn, creating a massive engine of resources.

The deck also features some whimsical artwork, notably depicting Bullseye and 8-Ball relaxing with a game of billiards. Beyond the flavor, you’ll find other heavy hitters like Kindred Dominance—a premier board wipe for typal decks that typically retails between $17 and $22. Another inclusion is Spark Double, an $11 staple that bypasses the “legendary” rule, allowing you to copy your most powerful threats, including Doctor Doom himself.

Rounding out the selection are high-utility cards like the efficient board wipe Toxic Deluge, the format-warping Skullclamp, and the ever-frustrating defensive enchantment Propaganda. The mana base is equally impressive, featuring sought-after lands like Luxury Suite.

For Commander enthusiasts, “Doom Prevails” offers a compelling blend of thematic flavor and competitive-grade value. Whether you’re looking to master copying effects, exploit typal synergies, or simply dominate the board with classic villainous malice, this deck is a remarkably high-value pickup.
