The creator behind the NOBL Games YouTube channel is crafting a fan-made remake of the classic SNES JRPG Chrono Trigger using Unreal Engine 5.
The project reimagines the original top-down JRPG as a third-person RPG, offering an idea of how a full modern remake could appear.
In the first video, NOBL Games reveals an updated 3D model of Crono and a recreation of the Millennial Fair. Future videos will rebuild additional areas of the game. Contrary to what some might expect, the fan remake won’t be available for download — it is being developed as a portfolio piece and there are no plans for a public release.
The entire effort is a solo endeavour, so you shouldn’t anticipate a large-scale production, but the result is impressive for a one-person project. The creator has promised more videos.
