The simulation is set to feature a wide variety of authentic, real-world bus models.
The developers of the renowned long-haul sim Euro Truck Simulator 2 have released a fresh development diary focused on the upcoming “Coaches” expansion, which will introduce playable buses to the game.
Alongside several new screenshots of the vehicles in action, the project’s producer provided a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes efforts:
My primary role revolves around coordination. I work to ensure the team functions as a cohesive unit, making sure everyone stays on track and has the data and assets required to hit our milestones as swiftly as possible. Sometimes we have to look outside our immediate circle; for instance, we realized our current systems struggled to render the massive number of raindrops required for the large coach windows. This became a task for the dedicated rendering team, as it fell outside our specific expertise. I keep a close eye on the general development flow to anticipate and resolve any bottlenecks that arise.
One of the most significant hurdles is managing the project’s scope. The dev team is relatively small and wants to avoid letting the “project drag on for another five years,” making strict prioritization a necessity.
Fans can now add the Euro Truck Simulator 2 – Coaches DLC to their Steam wishlist via this link.
As always, the images provided are “work in progress” and do not represent the final visual quality of the product.
Additionally, the studio offered a look at their workspace and a specialized prototype map used for refining new bus-specific mechanics and environment elements:
