Blizzard to Redesign New Overwatch Hero Anran Following Complaints Over Similarities to Kiriko

Blizzard has taken this feedback to heart. Game director Aaron Keller recently confirmed that the development team is revisiting Anran’s look. “The team is currently evaluating the necessary steps to ensure Anran reflects the fierce, authoritative older sister persona we always intended for her,” Keller stated in a recent update.

“We are incredibly proud of the work poured into Season 1 and our five new heroes,” Keller continued. “However, we agree that Anran can reach her full potential if we get this specific in-game representation right.”

While the goal is to implement the revised model during Season 1, Keller stopped short of providing a definitive window. “Our character models are technically complex, and we need to thoroughly test these adjustments to ensure quality,” he noted.

Keller concluded by emphasizing the developer’s commitment to the decade-old franchise, highlighting the Season 1 vision as a testament to their dedication. Andersen also praised the studio’s receptiveness. “I love this game,” she shared on X. “Huge thanks to the developers for listening and to the Overwatch community for making their voices heard!”
