Banjo-Kazooie N64 Classic Receives Fan-Made PC Port With 60 FPS, Widescreen, and Mod Support

Banjo-Kazooie PC Port

This new port introduces several modern enhancements, including support for high refresh rates (with performance scaling up to 360 FPS) and widescreen displays. It also incorporates quality-of-life updates from the Xbox 360 version, such as dual-analog camera control and a persistent note-tracking system that saves your progress even after a death. Furthermore, the project supports extensive modding, allowing players to dive into the popular Banjo-Kazooie Nostalgia 64 level pack. And, in a nod to gaming culture, it even appears that Doom is playable within the engine.

Mayles shared his excitement on X (formerly Twitter) with a playful rhyme in the style of the villainous Gruntilda: “Recompiled, oh my word! People just love the bear and bird!” This high-profile recognition acts as a spiritual seal of approval. With Microsoft currently keeping the franchise in the vault, the community has taken it upon themselves to ensure the series remains playable and better than ever.

In related news, the creator recently shared that the legendary “Stop ‘N’ Swop” feature was originally intended to be far more ambitious than previously realized.
