Some fans argued that No Man’s Sky was a more fitting recipient for the 2025 accolade, noting that while Baldur’s Gate 3 is universally beloved, Hello Games delivered significantly more substantial updates throughout the year to support their ever-evolving universe.

The director of Baldur’s Gate 3 suggests that “a lot has been lost in translation” regarding Divinity’s reveal and the subsequent AI discourse, stating that ignoring new technology would be “irresponsible.”
