Intel has officially taken the wraps off its Panther Lake mobile processor lineup, with the spotlight shining brightly on the integrated Arc B390 graphics chip powered by the cutting-edge Xe3 architecture.
This new iGPU isn’t just outclassing its direct rivals from AMD and Qualcomm; it’s positioning itself as a legitimate challenger to discrete mobile GPUs like the GeForce RTX 4050.
During 1080p performance evaluations, the Core Ultra X9 388H featuring the Arc B390 surpassed the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 (equipped with Radeon 890M) by a staggering 82%, while remarkably consuming less power (45W compared to 53W). When pitted against the Adreno GPU in the Snapdragon X Elite, the Intel chip delivered a massive 2.6x performance boost. Furthermore, even at a 45W TDP, it maintains a 10% lead over the 60W variant of the mobile RTX 4050.
The architecture introduces support for Multi-Frame Generation, capable of up to a 4x increase in output. In titles such as Battlefield 6 and Cyberpunk 2077, the activated frame generator allows the Arc B390 to consistently outpace both the Radeon 890M and the RTX 4050.
Should these benchmarks hold up under independent scrutiny, entry-level dedicated graphics cards could soon find themselves redundant. These Xe3-based chips also promise a bright future for the handheld gaming market, potentially delivering desktop-caliber performance in ultra-portable form factors.
