Analysts Predict Strong Sales for New The Witcher 3 DLC

Songs of the Past, the third story expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, could sell between 7.5 million and 11 million copies in its first year, according to analysts.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Songs of the Past generated significant interest following its showcase at gamescom 2026. CD Projekt RED and Fool’s Theory have not yet announced an exact release date for the expansion, which is expected in 2027.

Millennium DM analyst Grzegorz Gawkowski expects roughly 8.5 million copies sold during the first 12 months if the title releases in the second quarter of 2027. Trigon DM initially forecasted 7.5 million copies, though that estimate could increase following the announcement of a large-scale remaster.

“I evaluate the presentation of Songs of the Past at Gamescom very positively. They showed us a lot of concrete details. A new region, quests, exploration, and combat, and the initial reactions from players were very good. […] I assume the expansion will release in the second quarter of 2027 with sales of around 8.5 million copies in the first 12 months,” Gawkowski stated.

Tomasz Rodak from Bank Ochrony Środowiska and Piotr Poniatowski from mBank offer even more optimistic forecasts, projecting 11 million copies sold over the year.

Analysts also view the release of the free remaster for The Witcher 3 as a smart decision that should attract new players and support sales of the expansion.
