Technical glitches are threatening to dampen a major in-game reveal.
Recently, the first wave of Arc Raiders players had the opportunity to embark on an “expedition”—the game’s version of a voluntary progress wipe. It turns out that in addition to the rewards previously teased, the developers had prepared a hidden surprise for the community.
Following the reset, players were supposed to be treated to a cinematic sequence. However, a technical hurdle emerged: the game’s internal notification system for new seasonal challenges interfered with the script, causing the cutscene to skip entirely for a significant portion of the player base.
Beyond the technical mishaps, some players, including users like black-scout, expressed disappointment with the quality of the exclusive “wipe skin,” raising the question: “Was the grind actually worth it?”
Despite the mixed reviews on the aesthetics, a portion of the community seems satisfied with the cosmetic reward. More importantly, the player base has widely welcomed the voluntary wipe mechanic itself, which grants players the agency to decide when to “reset” their accounts and experience the thrill of filling their stash from scratch.
