According to the latest figures from German retailer Mindfactory, AMD is dominating the market with a staggering 91% share of processor sales, leaving Intel with less than 9%. Escalating RAM costs are driving many enthusiasts to opt for the legacy AM4 platform and more affordable DDR4 memory to minimize build expenses.
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D has emerged as the clear bestseller, while Intel’s top-performing chip—the i7-14700KF—managed only 20 units in sales. AMD remains the preferred supplier for both consumer PCs and server environments, largely due to its superior price-to-performance ratio, platform consistency, and the success of its X3D V-Cache architecture.
In the final week of the year, Mindfactory recorded a significant surge in AM4 sales, which accounted for 34% of the total volume (715 units), while the modern AM5 platform secured 57.45% (1,210 units). The average selling price for an AMD CPU settled at €259. During the same period, Intel moved just 180 units (8.55%) with an average transaction price of €248.
Consumers are actively seeking alternatives to expensive DDR5 upgrades, choosing instead to stick with DDR4 and previous-generation processors that still offer robust performance. Other notable leaders in sales include the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (170 units) and the Ryzen 7 5700X (160 units), further highlighting the enduring relevance of the AM4 ecosystem.
