TimeSplitters Rewind Released — An Unconventional Fan-Made Remake Compilation
Fans have revitalized the classic titles and consolidated their content into a single project.
Fans of the shooter franchise recently unveiled a large-scale project called TimeSplitters Rewind. Rather than a conventional remake, it’s presented as a curated compilation.
The creators aimed to “faithfully capture the spirit of all three games” and ultimately produced a standalone title, TimeSplitters Rewind, which gathers content from multiple installments:
Over the last ten years nearly 200 contributors poured in hours of work — from a few hours to several thousand. The roster includes both enthusiasts and developers with AAA experience. This is the largest amount of free, non-monetized content ever assembled for a video game, and creating it was a substantial challenge.
TimeSplitters Rewind is available for free from the project’s official website. This early access release currently includes:
- 28 maps
- Online and offline story (campaign) modes
- 96 playable characters
- 41 weapon models
- Arcade: 20 game modes, 51 leagues, with support for online or offline play against bots
- A new Team Elimination mode
- Multiplayer supporting up to 10 online players
