Sound familiar? Seyshel Beach hasn’t been an official Major Order objective recently — at least not in any prominent capacity — but in September High Command did note the efforts of “a small but fervent cohort of Helldivers” who reclaimed the city of New Alexandria (perhaps on the hunt for a library or two).
“While the city itself bears no particular strategic significance, the single-minded focus of these Helldivers is nevertheless an inspiration to all,” the dispatch stated.
That announcement landed at the end of Operation Gloom Tide, which asked Helldivers to defend Hellmire yet again while recapturing Terminid worlds such as Gacrux and expanding the Gloom’s frontline. In other words, it occurred on the opposite side of the sector — far from the Illuminate and the steadfast Beachers.
The Beachers ignored orders anyway. Although a fresh Major Order aimed deeper into the Illuminate front has reduced Beacher numbers, the Helldivers companion app map still shows thousands holding the line. At the time of writing the beach is 84.3401% liberated, and a large contingent remains determined to seize the last 16.66%.
“We have been fighting on this planet for at least 21+ days and it’s just going back [and] forth like the Creek but concrete,” Reddit user A7THU3 observed on October 6.
“One day the beach will be free,” user TDKswipe wrote on October 1 as a prior Major Order tried to draw Beachers away.
“The beaches will dry before the Helldivers do!” reads a poster shared by Redditor RazzDaNinja, who declared, “Sir, I’m finishing this fight.”
In short: we’ve got grassroots Beach propaganda, collective defiance of Major Orders, territory with little strategic value, and official confirmation from Arrowhead that player-driven focus on the Beach is real. On balance, there’s a strong case to be made that Seyshel Beach is a new Malevelon Creek.
Helldivers 2 developers say there are “no easy solutions” to the hefty 150GB PC install, but Arrowhead expects to strike a better balance between loading times and installation size soon.
