Reanimal Begins with a Drowning Boy — Intro from the Creators of Little Nightmares Released

In August, Tarsier Studios unveiled the first 13 minutes of gameplay for its upcoming cooperative horror-adventure Reanimal. That preview, however, excluded the opening scenes of the story — the studio has now published the full introduction.

The game opens with the Boy stranded alone in the middle of the water. While rescuing the Girl, he receives an unexpected “thank you” — she grabs him by the throat. The two then team up and set out to find their friends, making their way through a dense fog.

Narrative director Dave Mervik explained that Reanimal supports local co-op and emphasizes “shared tension” — the same heightened feeling you get when watching a horror film with others. Later, the pair enter an area that, as shown previously, is inhabited by terrifying creatures.

Reanimal is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2026 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. A free cooperative demo will be available from October 13 as part of Steam Next Fest.
