Jessica Jones, portrayed by Krysten Ritter, will return in the second season of Daredevil: Born Again.
The long-awaited return of Jessica Jones to Daredevil: Born Again is drawing near. At New York Comic Con, the show’s creators revealed plot details for the first time: Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly that Jessica will join the resistance led by Matt Murdock as he mounts a challenge to New York’s mayor, Wilson Fisk.
“The first and best idea was to bring Krysten back and make Jessica part of the resistance Matt is building in a city under Fisk’s control.”
Winderbaum explained that Born Again is set approximately ten years after The Defenders, which creates room to reintroduce characters and establish a fresh status quo. The producer promised viewers a host of changes and surprises.
So far, three principal characters from the Netflix universe are confirmed for Born Again’s second season: Daredevil, Jessica Jones and the Punisher. The returns of Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter) remain uncertain, though Winderbaum indicated their involvement is still possible.
He also suggested that Jessica Jones could receive her own project down the line — perhaps a new solo series or a special.
In an interview with Screen Rant, Krysten Ritter said the new incarnation differs noticeably from the original Netflix shows — both visually and tonally — with the visual approach being one of the most significant distinctions.
“The new series employs a very specific color palette that sets Born Again apart from earlier versions.”
While the Netflix Daredevil and The Defenders leaned on warm orange and brown hues to cultivate a grim atmosphere, the new show favors cool blues and grays — hues that mirror Matt Murdock’s emotional struggle as he attempts to piece his life back together.
Ritter also noted that the series benefits from a noticeably larger budget and higher production values. Tonally, Born Again aligns more closely with the original Daredevil than with Jessica Jones’s solo series, which leaned into dark humor.
The actress added that, since the end of Jessica’s third season, her character “has many untold stories,” and she hinted at how Jessica’s relationship with Matt Murdock might evolve.
“They work beautifully together, but Jessica always has her own point of view. She won’t pass up a chance to needle him.”
The second season of Daredevil: Born Again will premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2026.
