Highguard developers aren’t giving up — new mode accelerates gameplay

The developers have experimented with omitting a core phase from the traditional match structure.

Although Highguard has seen a significant decline in its active player base, the project still manages to sustain a notable level of interest among dedicated followers.

Even loyal enthusiasts of the online shooter have frequently voiced frustrations regarding the “looting phase”—a segment of the game that required players to spend time traversing the map scavenging for gear in chests. Responding to this feedback, the development team introduced a brand-new game mode in late February.

Highguard players can now jump into “Raid Rush,” a streamlined 5v5 mode that completely bypasses the scavenging stage. Instead, combatants can upgrade their loadouts directly through a vendor. To keep the competition dynamic, teams alternate roles at the conclusion of every round.
