Halo: Campaign Evolved Won’t Have PvP — Developers Explain Why

The Halo franchise has long been celebrated not only for its narrative campaigns but also for its multiplayer. Halo 2 was once the driving reason many subscribed to Xbox Live and at one point rivaled Call of Duty in popularity. While interest in online play has diminished over the years, Halo Infinite’s esports scene remains lively.

However, Halo: Campaign Evolved will not include PvP. Representatives from Halo Studios explained in an interview that the project was never intended to replace the original. Executive producer Damon Conn said:

“We’re not trying to supplant a masterpiece. Our goal is to create a game that stands beside it—using modern technology and fresh energy while honoring the legacy.”

The team concentrated on a four-player cooperative campaign, cross-play, and unified progression — marking the first time Halo is coming to PlayStation.

“This isn’t merely a solo experience. Halo has always brought people together, enabling them to share stories and moments. We want to preserve that sense of community.”

Because this is a remake, the studio is likely allocating resources toward the next main entry in the series.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
