
He adds that player reaction plays a crucial role in development: “The response to the game is an important part of the experience of making it.” Rao notes Early Access gives the team real-time feedback while the game is still being shaped — letting them gauge whether the humor lands, if characters resonate, whether certain boons or weapons are balanced, and which options players actually choose.

Rao describes that feedback as “really incredible,” and credits it with helping shape both the original Hades and Hades 2. He adds: “An important part of that is how will people respond to the finished game, and how will that response affect us and change us?”
Regarding next steps, Rao says the team’s immediate priority is supporting the 1.0 launch and listening to player feedback — fixing any issues that arise. After a break to reflect and process what they’ve learned, they’ll decide where to go from there. “But yeah, it’s not preordained. It’s not something we secretly know right now or anything like that,” he notes.
The studio’s stance echoes an in-game message that appeared after Hades 2’s 1.0 release, which explained the team expects to scale back updates once the launch is stable and then, we’ll return to shadows for a while and plan our next move.
So the studio’s next move remains undecided — and clearly, we’re not the only ones waiting to see what comes next.
