The geography of ETS 2 is steadily expanding — players will soon encounter a variety of notable landmarks.
The creators of the long-haul driving simulator Euro Truck Simulator 2 continue to share previews of upcoming content with the community. Once again the spotlight falls on the northern expansion, Nordic Horizons.
This time SCS Software draws attention to a 113-year-old wooden church in Kiruna. The studio learned that the building had been relocated because a nearby mine was being expanded:
“After several months of preparation and testing, the church was moved in August by the Dutch logistics company Mammoet. In total it travelled roughly five kilometres atop steel beams, transported by two convoys of 28-axle self-propelled modular transporters over two days. The relocation was a genuine engineering achievement that even required preliminary road widening. Thanks to meticulous planning, the church reached its new site safely.”
The relocation inspired the ETS 2 team to include the church in the game: virtual truckers will be able to see it in-game (players won’t be able to take part in the move).
The release date for the Nordic Horizons expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2 has not been announced. The DLC already has a Steam page — you can add it to your wishlist here.
As usual, the screenshots are from a “work in progress” build and do not reflect the final visual quality of the content.
