The studio has realigned its strategic priorities.
In late December, CD Projekt RED announced the divestment of GOG, the prominent digital storefront recognized for its extensive library of DRM-free titles.
The platform was acquired by Michał Kiciński, a co-founder of CDPR who was instrumental in GOG’s original inception.
It has been confirmed that under this new leadership, GOG will function as an independent entity, maintaining its commitment to gamers and developers while upholding its core “DRM-free” philosophy.
Furthermore, GOG plans to intensify its focus on digital preservation, ensuring that classic titles remain accessible and well-maintained for future generations.
CDPR’s existing catalog will continue to be distributed via GOG, and the studio intends to launch its upcoming projects on the platform as well.
CDPR explained that selling GOG allows the company to focus its resources entirely on “game development and the expansion of its core franchises through high-quality new releases.”
