A recent video from AYN’s developers reveals how the portable console handles brightness and volume controls, whether the two displays support independent refresh rates, and how the joystick backlighting can be customized.
AYN has released a new video showcasing its folding portable console Thor, which features two AMOLED panels. In this clip the team walks viewers through the device’s onboard software and settings.
The footage confirms the Thor supports independent refresh rates for each panel, so you can run one display at 120 Hz while the other stays at 60 Hz.
The software allows separate control of brightness and volume for each screen. You can also adjust fan speed, pick different UI themes, choose joystick lighting modes and more.
The Lite model is powered by a Snapdragon 865 coupled with an Adreno 650 GPU at 587 MHz, 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM at 2133 MHz and 128 GB of UFS3.1 storage. The Base, Pro and Max variants use a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 with an Adreno 740 GPU at 680 MHz, LPDDR5x RAM at 4200 MHz in 8 GB / 12 GB / 16 GB configurations, and UFS4.0 storage options of 128 GB / 256 GB / 1 TB.
Top display specs: 6.0 inches, 1080 × 1920 resolution, 120 Hz refresh rate, 650 nits peak brightness, 100000:1 contrast ratio, and 152% sRGB coverage. Bottom display: 3.92 inches, 1080 × 1240 resolution, 60 Hz, 550 nits, 100000:1 contrast ratio, and 150% sRGB coverage.
With the current discount, the AYN Thor with 8 GB RAM, 128 GB storage and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 is available for $249 (20,742 ₽), while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 model with 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage is listed at $299 (24,908 ₽).
