Rockstar Games’ decision to defer Grand Theft Auto 6 until 2026 likely offered a welcome breather for publishers aiming for the final months of 2025. However, 2026 is rapidly transforming into a monumental and densely packed year for the industry, even setting aside the massive weight of GTA 6, which is currently targeted for a November debut.

In addition to Rockstar’s highly anticipated crime epic, the calendar is brimming with blockbuster potential. We are finally seeing the arrival of Playground Games’ Fable, Bungie’s tactical Marathon, and a reimagined Halo: Combat Evolved. Capcom is poised for a massive year with a trio of titans—Resident Evil Requiem, Pragmata, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword—while Housemarque follows up its hit with Saros and FromSoftware introduces The Duskbloods. Nintendo fans have much to celebrate as well, with the long-awaited debuts of Rhythm Heaven Groove and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream.
