“Advent Children was a formative movie for me, and that church battle between Tifa and Loz is incredibly epic,” she noted. “I also loved the finale where everyone launches Cloud into the air. During the development of The Marvels, we envisioned a fight scene within a planetary core where gravity is in constant flux. I felt the way the church fight and the ending sequence handled weightlessness provided perfect inspiration.”
Tifa Lockhart’s iconic, gravity-defying superhero landing on the church wall remains a standout moment in action animation, and it clearly left a lasting impression on DaCosta’s visual storytelling.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple is scheduled for release on January 14 in the UK and January 16 in US cinemas.
Regarding the possibility of future Final Fantasy films, series producer Yoshinori Kitase mentioned last year that while no concrete plans exist, he would “love” to see another high-budget cinematic adaptation of the series.
